Giant Japanese Salad Bowl

This salad combines shrimp, romaine, red pepper, cabbage, beans sprouts, and tomatoes in a dressing of sesame seeds, soy sauce, and rice vinegar.
Ingredients
- For Dressing:
- 2 tbsp toasted sesame oil
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tsp sugar
- 3 Tbs Water
- 1/3 cup rice wine vinegar
- 2 Tbs Mayo
- 3 Tbs lightly toasted sesame seeds
- Pinch of white pepper
- For Salad:
- 1 head romaine lettuce, torn into bite-sized pieces
- 1 large red bell pepper, julienned
- 4 cups shredded red cabbage
- 4 cups fresh bean sprouts
- 2 tomatoes, quartered
- 1 cucumber, thinly sliced
- 1 lb. shrimp, peeled and deveined; cooked and cooled
- 4 green onions, finely sliced

Method
Combine ingredients for dressing in a jar with lid or a cruet. Shake vigorously until smooth. Toss with all salad ingredients (except shrimp and green onions) in a large salad bowl. Place shrimp & green onions in the middle.
Notes: This is a versatile recipe. Optional additions/substitutions are: asparagus, zucchini, yellow bell pepper, grape tomatoes, bok choy or napa cabbage. Can also substitute chicken for the shrimp. If you like things spicy, add a good pinch of crushed red pepper flakes to the dressing!
