Spicy Asian Snack Mix

Wasabi peas, peanuts and sesame sticks add texture and crunch to this tasty Asian snack mix. The seasonings are great.
 

Ingredients

  • 6 cups wheat square cereal
  • 1 1/2 cups sesame sticks
  • 1 1/4 cups dry roasted peanuts
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
  • 2 teaspoons dark sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon hot salt or 3/4 teaspoon salt plus 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups wasabi peas

Method

Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Coat a 15 x 10 inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. In a large bowl, toss together wheat cereal, sesame sticks and peanuts. In a medium glass bowl or measuring cup, combine butter, teriyaki, sesame oil, sugar and salt. Microwave on high 45 seconds or until butter is melted. Pour over mixture in bowl and toss to coat. Transfer cereal mixture to prepared pan and bake 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Cool mixture, in pan on wire rack for 15 minutes. Stir in wasabi peas.
